Completing a song of any length or type each day is impressive regardless of any issues with the final product. What's important is that you're developing your skills! Don't be afraid to adjust your pace if you feel like burnout is coming up.

I love the percussion here, it has just the right amount of punch and some impressive hat/cymbal work. The whole song gives me Egyptian desert vibes. It's smooth but imposing, with the kind of progression you hear in a lot of desert-themed areas in media. Very nice!

FL-DMD responds:

I love your analogy. And I really appreciate the inspiring words form you. I checked your stuff out as well and I must say I’m hooked on your Day 3 track 😍.

Haha you’re so right about this Egyptian vibe. I kinda didn’t really think of that until you brought it up though.

This melody sure gave me a spook. Very nice use of what I assume is the EarthBound soundfont! The beat feels a little sparse though, I feel like some hihats could have helped fill some of that silence.

TwistedFW responds:

Good Guess on the Earthbound Sound font XD and yea I can definitely see what you mean, adding hi hats could've helped a lot. Thanks! :3

This is super impressive for a 2.5 hour turnaround time. Feels like a boss battle in a funky, lighthearted RPG! There's a lot going on in parts but it never feels cluttered or overwhelming, just constant elation and a genuine energy to the rhythm. I think the break in the middle really helps add texture to the song as well as a moment to breathe in between the more intense moments.

I could go on about every aspect of this song because there's just so much to it, AHHHHH I just really love this track

This was a cool track! I like the lower-fidelity sound here, it helps sell the feeling of being distant or isolated along with the reverbs. I wouldn't worry too much about these tracks feeling rushed, part of what I think Jamuary is about is having these quick little exercises rather than trying to make full-fledged songs. There are still like 28 more days of this, after all. Focus on refining your technique or learning new parts of your DAW!

Those 90s-sounding vocals really make this something special. The percussion sounds great too!

I wasn't expecting a song in this genre to have such good gloomy, atmospheric undertones to it. The vocals add a lot of depth to the song and your percussion is so tight and weighty.

This definitely feels fun, but I love how it almost feels like there's an insidious undercurrent running through the whole thing. Like you just messed with the wrong person and now they're going to have as much fun as possible while they wreck you.

A beautiful piece. A lot of the progressions here remind me of the stuff you see in Japanese orchestral scores. Nice dissonant touches here and there that really sell the whole idea of encountering adversity and being determined to overcome it.

SilverPoyozo responds:

Thank you! Definitely heavily inspired by jrpg osts.

This is good! You kept things simple and sweet. I love the lower-fidelity feel of the whole composition. Definitely gives me a "sneaky" vibe!

Viraxor responds:

As people say: simplicity is the key to happiness. Thank you!
