Oof, I'm torn on this one. The guitar sounds incredible. Gives me some Metallica vibes with the crisp, clean mixing and the fast, machine gun-like strumming. On the other hand, you are right in that there are some audio issues, chiefly the phase clicking present throughout the track, mainly on the top end. It's most noticeable in the intro and outro. It wasn't annoying, but it WAS noticeable and it steals a LOT of attention away from the exceptional guitar playing. I'm not sure at what point in the mix these clicks got introduced in the process of making this song, but I would urge you to seek alternative solutions if this problem persists because it really takes away from how good the instrumentation is.

Kamiakiro responds:

thanks.
the mixing problems primarily came from strange gaps in the audio where there shouldn’t have been gaps. the only feasible solution I could find was OBS recording the song and turning that into an mp3.
I’ll see if I can actually get the song to work later.

This is a really cool idea for a project. How would you say your approach to the piano has changed since you started doing these? I love how parts of this session feel jazzy, almost bossanova-tangent.

Devoid1 responds:

Great question! I think before this project my improvisation was very formulaic, so I used a lot of similar chord progressions, similar melodic patterns etc. Although to a certain extent that still happens now, I think I’ve become a lot more adventurous. I’ve also started to experiment rhythmically, but yeah there’s a clear difference in how I approach these tracks now.

The percussion on this one is hella clean. I like the piano stuff especially in the back half of the song. If you practice at it and get a feel for what kind of sounds it produces, a piano can give you some very gorgeous melodies, regardless of whether it's just a sample, a synthesizer or a full-on Steinway.

That drop goes pretty hard. Not bad!
